It seems things are all over the place as far as keeping track of postal players and the upcoming roster possibilities for 2025. I thought maybe we could all focus on this thread/post to track it together. With the information out there now about Hodge, Lilio and Geurin the roster now looks like this.

Returners are shown in Bold type. XFERs are shown in underlined italics, Batting status is shown as R / L.

    15 Position Players:

    • C: XFER JR Isabella Emerling R, FR, Corri Hicks R - FR, Riley Zache L
    • 1B: SR Cydney Sanders R - SOPH Ella Parker L - FR Riley Zache L
    • 2B: FR Tia Milloy L or FR Gabriella Garcia L - FR Kady McKay L
    • SS: XFER JR Ailana Agbayani L - FR Sydney Barker R or FR Gabriella Garcia - FR Tia Milloy L
    • 3B: Red-FR Nellian McEnroe-Marinas R - FR Kady McKay L - FR Gabriella Garcia L
    • LF: XFER JR - Abby Dayton L - SOPH Maya Bland L
    • CF: FR Chaney Helton L or FR Tia Milloy L - FR Sydney Barker R
    • RF: SOPH Kasidi Pickering L - Red JR Hannah Coor R - FR Kady McKay L
    • DP: SOPH Ella Parker L - any of the above

    3 Pitchers:

    • JR Kierston Deal LHP
    • JR Paytn Monticelli RHP
    • FR Audrey Lowry LHP
    • XFER Red-Shirt-SR - Isabella Smith RHP

    NEEDS:

    • Emerling --->- 1 Experienced C - LH Bat would be nice, not necessary though
    • Smith ---> - 2 Pitchers - One RHP pitcher if possible
    • Agbayani ---> 1 or 2 Experienced MIF/3B - One RH Bat if possible
    • Dayton ---> Maybe - 1 Experienced OF - RH Bat if possible

Four (4) transfers move the roster to 20 (corrected, bad math on my part) players for 2025.

If all four of the transfers are Juniors or less, the Roster for 2026 would jump to 25 players with 6 new freshman arriving with 1 Senior leaving.

Edited on June 26th. to include Agbayani (SS) from BYU and then to include Smith (RHP).

Thanks for putting this together, it makes it a lot easier to keep up with. On the 2026 outlook, you can almost count on 3 players transferring out per year. I wonder if the exit meetings at the end of the year have anything to do with that?

I think it was on KREF last week that they had a quote from Syd Romero about showing up for the first Fall workout with a group of her large Freshman class in '15, I believe. Coach told them to go to their positions...

and they all went to Shortstop

If I am reading the above right - it looks like we have 2 position players that have been on the team for at least 2 years (current year included) and 2 pitchers. That really surprises me.

If you are speaking of recruited players, there is 1 position player and 1 pitcher remaining. If you include transfers there are 1 more position player and 1 more pitcher. Then there are four freshman players. That makes eight players returning now. Then there are 8 incoming freshman.

The losses of Turiya Coleman, Sophia Nugent, Jocelyn Erickson, Jordy Bahl and others since 2021 have hurt. When younger players are disappointed in playing time either due to competition or due to transfers coming in it eventually affects the roster.

From the 2021 Class that should be seniors next year, OU lost Nugent, Coleman, Lilio, Bahl, Waitman, and Guthrie, only Coor remain from the class of 7 players
From the 2022 Class that should be juniors next year, OU lost Erickson, Hodge, and Geurin, only Deal remain from the class of 4 players
From the 2023 Class that should be sophom*ores next year, All 4 players are still on the team.

Overall, that is 6 out of 15 players still remaining at OU from those 3 classes.

Looks like HC Gasso was right when she said that she's going to be back to coaching this year. She has a lot of inexperienced players coming in to take a lot of empty positions. But if there's anyone who loves to be in this situation it's HC Gasso and her great staff. Next season is going to be another really fun season of softball to watch, starting in the fall.

Can’t wait! It’s going to be a lot of fun watching these young players develop. Definitely more losses but that’s OK as long as improvement happens.

Won’t it be great if Hannah Coor gets healthy and is the player she was in fall ball? That would be a huge boost.

Sweet Baby Parker is a phenom. Can't wait to see how good she can ultimately be (the bar is really high after her frosh year).

EL Cyd, drove in a ton of runs in spite of her low BA. If she can get back to her days of performance in Arizona, and the most fantastic March I've seen, we'll be moving strongly in the right direction.

Are any of the freshmen coming in, true power hitters? I would definitely take more players like Pickering and Parker, but just wondering if any are true HR power threats.

Potentially the best power hitter in the freshman that arrives in August/September is Kady McKay (INF), from Caddo, Oklahoma. I would compare her LH Power to Nicole Pendley in Pendley's last two years at OU, but McKay could do that earlier in her career. Corri Hicks (C) has some impressive power as well. I think that six of the seven position players could all hit double-figure HRs as they all hit the ball well. i do not know that much about Riley Zache (C/UT) as the seventh player.

Of course it take the players the opportunity to play "full-time" to reach totals like that. I do not think OU is recruiting players these days that are 'just' singles hitters, they all can hit including hitting the ball over the fence.

The only person that has been talked about out loud is Rylee Holtorf from Washington. She is a SS.

We really need a first line pitcher to join the staff. If Canady is not going to enter the portal, I don’t know who that would be.

With all the talent coming in, I think it would be nice as far as inbound portal players to bring in those that have 1 no more than 2 years of eligibility. I think this would bring some stability to the number of folks transferring out while giving the young guns a lot of experience setting the team up for the future. If this incoming class lives up to billing, we should be able to be shape into a team that can get back to the WCWS if we can get good pitching portal pickups. Of course these are just my thoughts - #In8NattyPattyWeTrust

I agree, I hope any transfers we pick up are only 1 year players, maybe two year.

I would imagine that Patty is being cautious, particularly with portal pitchers. Given the hurlers in the '24 and '25 classes coming in (play '25 and '26), we should be flush with top notch pitchers then.

Think it makes sense to possibly bring in a couple of one-year hurlers and go light on position players.

If we have two frosh step up like Ella and Kasidi did, we'll be a tough team offensively considering Patty thinks everyone should hit. Infield and outfield D will need to begin sorting itself out in fall-ball and of course, catcher is a puzzle for next season.

Sure would be nice if Monticelli would advance her skills under Jen.

Then there's the unpredictability of the Portal. We know our portal outs but I'm sure there's some other team's players who have not yet declared but intend too. Hint, hint.

Anyone hearing anything on these two players in the portal?

Rylee Holtorf, SS from Washington will be a Senior. She batted .336 with a 1.052 OPS. Solid MIF option. Sixteen (16) errors in three years. Top 10 recruit in 2021 class. Good cultural fit.

Kailey Wycoff, C/OF from Texas Tech will be a Junior. Would be nice to have that .400 average and 1.131 OPS for two years. Enjoys being a utility player.
