So let’s make your next trip even easier. I’ve rounded up 19 of the best Airbnbs for large groups in upstate New York. The location is iconic, the properties are gorgeous and there’s room enough for everyone. (Minimum six guests!). “This is quite possibly my favorite Airbnb I've ever stayed in. My friends and I rented this home over Halloween weekend a few years ago and it couldn't have been more perfect. The house is sprawling and so unique. The main living area (which includes the kitchen, dining room and living room) is super modern and sleek, with second floor bedrooms, a wonderful master bath and an entertainment room. As you make your way through the attached part of the home, you enter an 1850s farmhouse structure, which has been beautifully updated but maintains a ton of vintage charm, with wood-burning fireplaces throughout and even an antique wood-burning stove. There are a ton of different spaces for the group to spread out in, but the kitchen, dining room and living room are all more than accommodating when it comes to getting everyone together. If you’re looking for the ultimate group retreat, I think The Zen House must be it. The 12-person cabin’s got an indoor movie theater with leather recliner seats (cue the popcorn), a six-person hot tub (you can also cold plunge and use the sauna) and table tennis. Spend a lazy afternoon swinging in the hammock, play a round of volleyball or lounge in the bright, spacious living room, and then roast s’mores at night around the firepit and stargaze while leaning back in the Adirondack chairs.

Spend your time in the luxe chef’s kitchen, swimming in the pool or rambling through the wildflower meadows. For those who dream about their own real-life jaunt as , the Balsam Mountain House transports you straight to the 1970s (in a modern, stylish way). The cabin sleeps six and includes a fully stocked open kitchen offering mountain views, a large front deck with lounge chairs and a fire pit. Who knows? Maybe you’ll come out of the weekend with a chart-topping single. (And at the very least, great memories.)

Now, this is what I call one of the best Airbnbs for large groups in upstate New York. This eight-acre Woodstock property is a renovated 19th-century dairy barn that sleeps 10 people (but can welcome more—just tell the host). It has all the amenities you’d require for fun with friends and family: hot tub, fire pit, sauna, pizza ovens and a cabana kitchen. Should you want to explore the surroundings, you’re only a couple of miles from Woodstock’s town center as well as Saugerties, and you’re walking distance to a beloved local swimming hole, Little Deep.
12. Birch & Buck (Hunter)

(Heated) pool with a view? Yes, please. Come take a dip in a deck pool that offers sweeping views of the mountains at Birch & Buck. Drive along the Durham Valley Scenic Byway and you’ll run into the Catskills Cabin in Acra. The cabin can host up to 13 people and is tastefully decorated with inviting vintage furniture throughout, from the mid-century modern dining room to the wood stove and music corner that boasts a record player. The Madrigal House is an 1850s estate with New Orleans’ European flair. (Honestly, this takes me straight to Bridgerton.) It’s by far the most luxurious Airbnb for large groups. I’m talking a 25-acre, 3,000-square-foot property with sumptuous furniture, fine art, a vintage British bar (with “sipping scotch” included), a marble dining table and two-acre private pond. You and your friends are basically the duch*ess of Hastings at this point. Tack on the outdoor dining setup on the back deck, fully stocked kitchen and a butler’s pantry, plus French linens and custom marble fireplace, and all that’s left is for you to show up dressed to the nines. (But if you wear sweatpants, I won’t tell.)

What to Consider When Booking a Group Airbnb
“In addition to merely counting how many beds a home has, you should consider other areas of the home where your large group will congregate,” advises Maida, who has planned quite a few group trips herself. “For example, is the dining room table large enough to seat everyone for dinner? Is the sofa in the living room able to accommodate everyone for a movie night? Is there a big enough outdoor area that everyone can gather ‘round the fire pit? Larger kitchens with plenty of counter space are also a must if you’re planning on cooking a big meal with your crew.”
